Meet Our Team of Liminal Guides

We know how it feels to be unsettled and exposed because of a major life change.  We believe a liminal space provides a unique opportunity to grow and thrive, not just survive.  Let us help provide the guidance you need to reshape a tumultuous season into discovering your next life chapter.

Jon DeWaal

Liminal Guide, Founder | Edmonds, WA

Jon lives in Edmonds, WA with his wife, Annie and three boys, Grant, Jude, Levi and Trace. He has a BA in Business from Hope College and a Master of Divinity from The Seattle School of Theology and Psychology. Jon founded Liminal Space in 2009. Through this personal journey and professional work, he’s come to believe in the power of transformation discovered in a moment of transition – a liminal space. Though often challenging and most liminal spaces conjure up many unwanted things, it’s where we see the best of who we are and gain the confidence to take purposeful next steps.

Matt Miller

Liminal Guide | Seattle, WA

Matt lives in South Seattle with his wife, Allison and toddler, Marshall. He holds a Master of Divinity and Master of Arts in Business & Applied Theology from Seattle Pacific University. Matt brings to the table a decade in the outdoor industry where he guided, organized, and tinkered with what it means for an organization to thrive. He is enthralled with the strange fruit of interdisciplinary collaboration, inspired by personal passion expressed in surprising places, and stands captivated by the impact of rest and play on the tired 21st-century soul. Matt walks the liminal spaces of life just as he has learned to walk the physical wilderness—with steady footsteps, reverent respect, resilience amidst uncertainty, and a bold howl-into-the-storm joy.
